Last night, we were delighted to welcome back Michael Horner to the Cathedral Song School together with two colleagues for a Christmas Jazz Trio concert – the Michael Horner Trio. We were treated to some wonderful jazz improvisations of seasonal Christmas carols and popular jazz standards.

Michael was a pupil of the Campion School is currently studying jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Oliver Copeland (bass) and Robert Ellison (drums) are also attendees on the same course at Guildhall.

Michael has given two previous jazz lunchtime recitals in the Cathedral Song School with his jazz friends and colleagues and these have been enormously well received. It’s a great venue for jazz and highly enjoyed by many. The concerts attract a very good audience on each occasion and further served to demonstrate the breadth of music here at Brentwood Cathedral and especially our keen support for aspiring young musicians and artists. Last night Christmas jazz concert we were delighted that some of the Cathedral choristers and families could join us on a cold, foggy evening. Also we warmly welcomed other jazz students from Guildhall who kindly came along. Follow progress and careers of these outstanding jazz musicians!
